On March 18, 2011, several vehicle burglaries (items taken from vehicles) occurred in the Carisbrooke Circle area of Bluff Park. The suspect pictured below used credit cards taken from these burglaries later in the day.

Suspects Sought in Credit Card Theft

Police need your help to identify two suspects for credit card theft. The two white female suspects are responsible for stealing and using credit cards at several stores in the Hoover area.

Suspect Arrested in Tanning Oasis Robbery

On December 11, 2010 at 10:50 a.m. officers responded to a robbery at the Tanning Oasis, located at 5037 Highway 280. Detectives have since obtained a warrant for Jimmy Evans Swindle, charging him with robbery 1st degree.

Suspect in Debit Card Theft

Detectives are asking for the public’s help to catch a credit card thief. On Nov. 17, a credit card was stolen from a car parked at a day care center on Montgomery Highway. The next day, surveillance cameras caught a female suspect attempting to use the stolen card at a bank on Green Springs Highway. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the individual pictured is urged to contact Hoover Detective Keith Czeskleba at (205) 739-6795.

Police need your help in identifying robbery suspects. On November 18, 2010, between 4:45 and 5:00 pm, at Belk at the Riverchase Galleria, the two suspects struggled with loss prevention officers as they attempted to steal merchandise. This struggle and threats of physical injury elevated the theft to the status of a robbery.

Detectives with the Hoover Police Department have arrested two persons who are alleged to have been using "Facebook" as a means to know when potential victims would be away from their homes. It is believed that these two suspects would first check the "facebook" status of people they knew, or the "facebook" status of people who were identified as "friends of friends," to determine whether or not the potential victims were in town, away on vacation, etc., before choosing which location to burglarize. Hoover Police charge Wal-Mart theft suspects

On June 28th, 2009, a wallet was stolen from the purse of a Wal-Mart customer. The victim's credit cards were later used at a Publix grocery store. Photographs of the offenders were aired by Fox 6 News on July 02 resulting in their identification and arrest .

HPD makes arrest in Robbery Case

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 26, 2009, a resident of Georgetown Place apartments was robbed by a female suspect armed with a knife. The suspect took the victim's wallet and then fled the scene.

On June 29, 2009, Hoover Police Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Constance Marie Pack with the crime of Robbery in the first degree.

On June 28th, 2009, at approximately 8:30 p.m. a wallet was stolen from the purse of a Walmart customer. After stealing the wallet, the thieves left Walmart and went to the Publix at Lee Branch shopping center where they used one of the victim's credit cards to purchase gift cards. As seen in the attached photos, the offenders are two white males and one white female. One of the white males is pushing a baby stroller occupied by an infant. The suspect's vehicle, as shown in the photograph, is maroon in color.

Suspect sought in Laptop Thefts

The individual pictured in the attached photograph is being sought in connection with the theft of laptop computers from commercial buildings in the Inverness area. He has told employees in these buildings that he is with "Advertising" and that he left his pass key card at home. The thefts have occurred during business hours.

Hoover police officer apprehends burglary suspect

On June 11, 2009, at 3:20 p.m., the Hoover Police Department received a "burglary in progress" call from a resident of Wildwood Apartments. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the burglary suspect. A responding police officer spotted an individual fitting the description running near the complex. Arrests made in Heroin Trafficking Case

On Friday May 22, 2009, the Hoover Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force served three (3) search warrants and four (4) arrest warrants in reference to an ongoing heroin trafficking investigation. This case begin in Hoover in February, 2008, eventually extending into several neighboring jurisdictions. The subjects of these arrests are believed to be responsible for the distribution of heroin throughout the Birmingham / Hoover metro area. HPD Detectives seeking residential burglary suspects

Detectives are asking residents to be on the lookout for a 4 door, late 80’s Dodge or Chrysler, silver or blue in color. The vehicle has been described as very rusty and "beat-up" looking and missing both hubcaps on the right side revealing black rims.

This vehicle may have been involved in a recent residential burglary in the Highway 150 area near the Bessemer City limits. A nearby jurisdiction also had a recent burglary where a vehicle very similar to this one was parked in the driveway of the house that was burglarized.

The occupants of the vehicle were reported to be (3) three black males with no additional descriptive information available at this time. If you have information about this vehicle, or about possible suspects involved in these burglaries, please notify Detective Donnie Prier at 205-444-7620. If you spot this vehicle call 911 and provide the last known location and a tag number ONLY if it can be obtained in a safe manner.

Robbery Suspects arrested as a result of quick police response to a victim's call

On Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 12:06 a.m., a female resident of Colonial Grand at Monte D’oro in Hoover was robbed by Jonathan Moore, Nico Markeith Phillips and Quincy Cooper. These three suspects, armed with a shotgun, took property from the victim. The victim was not injured. Click this link for additional details.

On Friday, March 27, 2009, at 10:50 p.m., a female resident of The Grand at Galleria was robbed by Jonathan Moore, Marcus Marquis Davis and Nico Markeith Phillips. These three suspects, armed with a shotgun, took property and money belonging to the victim. The victim was not injured. Click this link for additional details.

All four suspects have been arrested and charged with Robbery 1st degree as a result of their actions.

Homewood Police arrest suspect involved in Hoover car break-in

On the night of April 1, 2009, an “unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle” occurred at Wisteria Place (Cliff’s at Rocky Ridge Apartments). Stolen from the vehicle was a 12 gauge MOSSBERG shotgun with pistol grips. On April 4, 2009, at 2:15 am, Homewood Police officers stopped a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice. Officers found the victim’s shotgun lying in the back seat of the vehicle along with a baseball bat which is believed to have been used for breaking car windows. Homewood Police will pursue a Receiving Stolen Property 2nd against the suspect in this crime.

Assault 2nd Degree Arrest (Felony Assault)

On February 26, 2009, shortly after 7:20pm, an assault occurred at Dale’s Southern Grill, located at 1843 Montgomery Highway. This assault involved employees only; no patrons were involved. The assault occurred in a non-public area of the restaurant. The suspect listed below cut the victim with a kitchen knife; the victim, who suffered non-life threatening injury, was treated at Brookwood Hospital. Investigation led to the identification of the following suspect:

Andres Moreno-Santos DOB 08/30/1979

Moreno-Santos fled to the New Orleans area following the assault. The Hoover Police Department provided information to the US Marshall’s Task Force about Moreno-Santos, and he was apprehended in New Orleans. On March 3, 2009, Hoover Police Department Detectives obtained a warrant for Assault 2nd Degree. Moreno-Santos was transported to the Jefferson County (Birmingham) Jail on March 29, 2009. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
